This Reformed theology at its best--applied to the day to day struggles and disappointments of life. If you think Reformed theology is not "practical" then you you need to read this book!
Actually, this is a great book to give to anyone you know who may be going through trials and suffering. A truly wonderful and comforting book.

Was Lincoln an evangelical Christian? Guelzo makes the case that Lincoln rejected the gospel for a Christless fatalism.

A complete and total butt-kicking of any and all Kennedy assassination conspiracy theories. Sorry, but Oswald did it acting alone. There is a lot to learn in this book about how conspiracy theories run smack dab into cold hard facts, but that doesn't stop them!

A great book about some truly great men!
-
A well-written introduction to the Revolutionary War--made me wish I had paid attention in history. But then I went to a public high school in Orange County, so we probably never covered this cool stuff. That's why most everything in the book was new to me!

If you don't want it to happen here, you must know why it happened there.

The bloodiest day in American history--nearly ten times the casualties of 9 11. Why did Lincoln wait to issue the Emancipation Proclamation? McPherson does a great job explaining this.

Kershaw cleans up a number of legends and give us an insightful picture of a truly maniacal man.

The actions of Commander Evans during the Naval Battle of Leyte Gulf (1944) are simply unbelievable. Upon being surprised by a huge Japanese fleet off Leyte which was about to attack our undefended invasion force, without orders, Commander Evans turned his Fletcher Class Destroyer (the USS Johnston, DD-557) into the face of the oncoming Japanese fleet, which included 4 battleships, six heavy cruisers, 2 light cruisers, and 11 destroyers. Talk about courage and keeping your head under fire. Evans' actions helped break-up the Japanese formation, enabling our surprised fleet to get away and regroup. His great heroism cost him his ship and his life. I couldn't put this one down!
